Best way to setup a user so they get different discounts for specific catogories

We want to know the best way to assign different discounts to different categories for certain customers.

So when the customer logs on he sees his discounted prices and the % discount would differ for certain categories.

You can go in the menu Orders>Discounts and create discounts there.
You can restrict a discount to users, user groups, products or product categories.
Only one discount can apply for one user for one product (others will be discarded), but you can configure several discounts, one per category for one or serveral users.
It's up to you.

Excellent - this is what we did - just wanted to check this was the best way to achieve this.
