My company provides paint chip repair products for automobiles. We want to start selling individual touch-up paints. We have a vehicle database Of Year, Make, Model, Paint Name, Paint Code, and a Hex Code to display an example of the color. For 2012 there is a possible 3200 combinations and we have 30 years worth of data.
Cascading drop-downs would be one good solution. One product with a drop-down choice of Year, Then another drop-down that displays the make of vehicles available for that year, Then the last drop-down that displays all of the models for that make of vehicle. Once chosen a list of Paint codes, with an example gets displayed and the client clicks or selects that paint code. Year, Make, Model, & Paint code get sent to Hikashop.
