Registration plugin to assign user groups

I have a site that is still in development and I need a plugin for my registration. I have where customers can register as regular customers, military customers, or dealers. I have prices assigned to each user group. What I need is where if someone registers as military and/or a dealer it will assign them to the respective user groups instead of the default customer user group. I asked about this in another topic and was told that a plugin would have to be developed for the onBeforeLogin() function to accomplish this. This is a little over my head so, if someone is interested in doing this let me know with details. Thanks
