Custom plugin to automate social media posts

I have a Facebook page and Twitter account for our business. I need a custom plugin that can be called from other plugins to automatically post to Facebook and Twitter using their APIs. Posts will sometimes include links to pictures or videos that will pass as variables from other plugins. Can this be done?
