Eu guarantee

From 27 September 2026, every shop selling goods to consumers in the European Union has to show the EU notice on the legal guarantee, and the EU GARAN label on the products whose producer offers a guarantee of durability of more than two years at no extra cost. Directive (EU) 2024/825 makes it an obligation, and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 sets how both look, down to the font. This free plugin does both for your HikaShop shop.

• Enter the duration of the producer guarantee in the product form, and its GARAN label is drawn from the official template of the European Commission, with the duration, the brand and the model identifier filled in. Nothing else of the template changes. The preview in the form follows what you type.
• The brand is the brand of the product, or a name you enter for each product. The model identifier is the code of the product, or a model you enter for each product.
• Variants use the guarantee of their main product unless you give them their own, with their own code as model identifier.
• On the product page, the nested label the regulation allows online sits next to the price and opens the full label when the customer hovers, clicks or taps it. You can show the full label directly instead.
• The nested label can also be shown in product listings, and it is always shown under each product of the cart at the checkout, so that it is seen right before the order is placed, as the Commission recommends and as Germany requires.
• A "Your legal guarantee rights" link opens the legal guarantee notice over the page, on the product page and in a checkout block you place where you want in your checkout.
• The notice is shown in the language of the page, in the 24 official languages of the EU, with a link to the Your Europe page in that language.
• The full label of each product and the notice are added to the order emails you choose.
• Keyboard and screen reader friendly: the labels have a text alternative, open with the keyboard and close with Escape.

On the product page, the nested label opens the full label on hover, click or tap.

The "Your legal guarantee rights" link opens the notice in the language of the page.

At the checkout, the label is under each product of the cart, and the notice block sits where you placed it.

In the product form, enter the duration and the label is drawn for you, and drawn again as you type.

• 1) Download the plugin from our website.
• 2) Install it on your Joomla website (extension manager).
• 3) Publish it from the Joomla plugin manager (type "hikashop", name "EU legal guarantee notice and GARAN label").
• 4) Edit each product whose producer offers a guarantee of durability and enter its duration in the EU GARAN label block.
• 5) Add the "EU legal guarantee notice" block to your checkout workflow, in the Checkout tab of the HikaShop configuration.

Only the products whose producer offers, at no extra cost, a commercial guarantee of durability covering the whole product for more than two years, and has told you about it. The duration is in whole or half years: 3, 5, 12 or 2,5. You can type it with a dot or a comma; the label always shows a comma, as the Commission's guidelines ask. A duration of two years or less, or with another decimal, is refused and the product form tells you why.

Many products at once: the duration, brand and model are columns of the products, named product_garan_duration, product_garan_brand and product_garan_model, so you can fill them with the CSV import of HikaShop.

The plugin shows the notice on the product pages, at the checkout and in the emails. It can also be shown on the rest of your website, in the header or the footer for example: create an article showing the image media/plg_hikashop_euguarantee/images/notice/EN.png, replacing EN with the code of your language, linked to the Your Europe page of your language (https://europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees for English), and link that article from a menu item or a module.

• Label on the product page: the nested label (the default) or the full label.
• Label on product listings: the nested label under the name of the products in the listings.
• Brand on the label: the brand of the product, or a name entered for each product.
• Model on the label: the code of the product, or a model entered for each product.
• Notice on the product page: the "Your legal guarantee rights" link on the product page.
• Other languages: the language of the notice for the languages of your website which are not official languages of the EU.
• Emails: the order emails which receive the labels and the notice, and whether each of them is added.

• The label is drawn by your server when it can (PHP with GD and FreeType, which most hosts have). When it cannot, your browser draws it when you open the product form, and sends it to your website.
• The notice images, the label templates and the Inter font are included in the plugin. The notice and the label are published by the European Commission, (c) European Union, and reused under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence; the Inter font is under the SIL Open Font License.
• Your product pages load nothing from an external service, and nothing about your visitors leaves your website.
• This plugin helps you display what the regulation asks for. It is not legal advice: the rules of your country may ask for more.
