Product Thumbnail Image Not Expanding Consistantly

Hi,

I'm new to all this web stuff. Loaded HikaShop last week and I really like it a lot.

However, I ran into a problem with the HikaShop generated product thumbnail images in both the front end as well as the back end.

When selecting any thumbnail image the first time, screen grays but no expanded image displays and the screen locks.

I have to back browser to get out of it. Every time I select the thumbnail afterward, the image opens like it should.

When adding a product in the back end, after adding an image to the product, I click on the new image thumbnail in the product editor and screen grays then locks up. Back browser and select it a second time and it opens just fine.

Every morning when I login, I have the same problem every day with every product.

This means my customers are getting it too.

I am using Joomla 1.6

Can you help??

Thanks,

RJay

Could you also give more information ?
Version of joomla 1.6, of HikaShop ? Browser used ?

It works fine on IE and on Google Chrome. And it works on other websites with firefox and joomla 1.6. So it narrows down a lot the cause of the problem.
Could you try to change your template and see if you still have the problem ?

Its happening on other templates.

Maybe you could try it again in a few hours or tomorrow morning.

Problem seems to happen when images have not been accessed for a while.

Thanks,

When I tried on Firefox, I got it each time I was opening an image for the first time.
Could it be because you changed the handler from iframe to image ? If you change it back, does it work ?

From another thread www.hikashop.com/en/support/forum/5-supp...affichage-popup.html , it seems that it's because you have mootools 1.3 installed and that the modal popup of joomla is not compatible with it by default. You need to add some code at the end of the modal.js file of joomla:
www.mystil.com/fr/more-about-joomla/84-j...box-avec-mootools-13

Do you confirm ?

I'm going to need help with that, I don't think I changed anything like that so I don't know how to make the change "back". Can you assist with instructions.

P.S. Someone just contacted me reporting this problem on my web site. They are using FireFox 4.0 browser.

Yes. That's indeed a bug in joomla 1.6 coming from a bug in mootools:

I am in way over my head with this problem. Editor on Bluehost will not open this file in line editing format.

Can an updated file be downloaded from somewhere?? Does anyone here have it to share.

Any suggestions are appreciated!!

You can replace the file media/system/js/modal.js by the one in the archive enclosed.

Yea, loaded it, problem is still there. :unsure:

Is there another way to display the images so the problem won't show up?

You can use rokbox instead of the default joomla modal boxes by changing a bit the code of the views:
www.hikashop.com/fr/support/forum/4-how-...newedit-address.html

Basically, you install rokbox and you change the class="modal" rel"...." of the links to rel="rokbox".

Thanks, I'll look into it.

In the mean time, all expandable product images are getting the following..

(If larger image does not appear, click your browser back arrow and select it again.)

So here where things stand,

I am not a programming guru and me working with code is like tap dancing in a mine field.

Because this is a known problem between Joomla 1.6 and HikaShop, how is it my problem to get it working?

I would thing that there would be an easily loadable patch that a knucklehead like me could run.

I would try to incorporate the coding fixes, but the editor that comes with Bluehost is just showing me a jumbled mass of continuous code.

The web site is ready to be opened for business except for this one issue.

Is it suppose to be this hard??

The views of HikaShop can be edited via the menu Display->Views. You don't need to use your hosting company's editor.
The easiest solution will be to put the file in the archive enclosed in the folder templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/
That will override the normal image display and display the big images in a new tab instead of displaying it in a joomla popup.

I don't know how to fix the real problem in mootools. I know how to use mootools but I don't know how it works so fixing it is impossible.

OK,

This is an acceptable option. Buyers will have to figure out they are in a new tab to get back to the shopping cart.

Better than the alternative. Thank you for all your efforts.

Hi All,

Just for clarity - I have joined two threads dealing with this problem together, and fixed it as suggested with the Rokbox viewer template, without resorting to modifying template system files - cool! And thanks.

Install Rokbox viewer template in the usual way, its free:
www.rockettheme.com/extensions-joomla/rokbox

Seems to show up enabled OK from the start.

Then follow Nicolas' later instructions in this thread:

For complete idiots (like me), the YOUR_TEMPLATE part of the directory address is the name of the template that you are already using for the Hikashop part of your site, NOT a new folder to be made!

Open the hikashop_image-20110620.zip archive and extract the hikashop_image.php file.

Then for a better 'same browser tab' fix do the following:
BEFORE uploading it, open it in a text editor and delete the contents(!), and paste this code in instead:

<?php
function hikashop_image_link_render(& $obj, $path, $addPopUp, $optionslink, $html) {
return '<a rel="rokbox (Album)" title="'.$alt. '" target="_blank" href="'.$obj->uploadFolder_url. $path.'" onclick="SqueezeBox.fromElement(this, {parse: \'rel\'}) return false;"'. $optionslink .'>'.$html. '</a>';
}

function hikashop_small_image_link_render(& $obj, $path, $addPopUp, $optionslink, $html) {
return '<a class="hikashop_image_small_link" rel="rokbox (Album)" title="'.$alt. '" href="'.$obj->uploadFolder_url. $path.'" onclick="SqueezeBox.fromElement(this, {parse: \'rel\'}) return false;" target="_blank" onmouseover="return hikashopChangeImage(\''. $addPopUp. '\', \''. $obj->uploadFolder_url_thumb. '\', \''. $obj->thumbnail_x. '\' , \''. $obj->thumbnail_y. '\', this); "'. $optionslink .'>'. $html.' </a> ';
}

This comes from the thread:
Re: using rokbox for new/edit address
www.hikashop.com/fr/support/forum/4-how-...newedit-address.html

Then save and upload to the directory mentioned above.

All works as a shadowbox in the same window as the product item. You can changes the themes look, etc, in the Plug-in Manager as usual.

Phew!

Tom
