trying to get hikashop configured for a wedding cake shop- basic requirements as follows-
1. have a different base price for each cake, with
2. some no extra cost items such as colour or ribbon
3. some extra cost items, eg additional flavours eg chocolate an extra £5
4. delivery options, eg collect from bakery £0, deliver to glasgow £20, deliver to Edinburgh £40.
Have tried creating extra characteristic, new 'product' with options etc. but still confused.
Can you give initially general advice or the method/s to use for the scenario described above, outlining whether to use characteristic/s, do I need to create a 'product' for each costed option, how do I set the cost for each choice?
website example is on wedding-cakes-glasgow.co.uk/wedding-cake...-budget-wedding-cake
I have 3 options for delivery, but cannot get the price to change. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Create a main product, then create characteristic for colour and ribbon.
Add the desired characteristic to you main product.

Then for the extra cost items, create them as products with the price (£5), and add them as option to the main product

For the shipping methods, just create one collect from delivery method with no fees, create deliver to glasgow with the price and set a restriction for the zone option, and for the last one do as the second one, with zone restriction on edinburgh and a price of £40.

Thanks to read our documentation: hikashop.com/support/documentation.html

PS: We moved you message, posting in an old and not very related topic was not the best place ;)

Thanks, am trying to follow your method.
First problem is that the options are listed as shown in attached screenshot- really would like a dropdown list so that only one option can be selected, also if I end up with 20 delivery locations, the list would fill up the screen.

Secondly all the possible priced options are listed on the page, do not want to display this.

Hope this is possible and look forward to your help.

Hi,

Would it be possible to have a screenshot of your product configuration (in the HikaShop backend) ?

Hi,

1. In your case I think that you have to use an option with characteristics.
The option product will have all the delivery location, then when adding this option product to the main product, the values will all be displayed in only one dropdown.

2. I don't really understand what you need. Isn't this request similar to the first one ?

To create an option with a characteristic attached to it, you can follow our documentation on options which explains the steps for that:
