how to use hikashop for car rental?

Rental requires selecting a period of renting and during that period, others can't purchase the same period.
There is no such system in HikaShop. The quantity is global and renting sales would require quantity managed by the day. Doable with some plugin development, a new table to store the renting periods, etc but not easy.

For anyone reading this: what I described here now exists, the Booking plugin.

The customer picks a rental period on a calendar, the quantity is managed day by day (a car booked on some dates stays available on the others). The availability is checked when adding to the cart and at the checkout, and given back if the order is cancelled.
