While the double emails seems to be a bit better overall, a new problem has come up.

The customers can sometimes not pay at all using TWINT.

We have asked all those that couldn't use TWINT what browser they were using and they all used Safari on Mac.

The debug mode ist still active on the payment method, so if you need access to the backend, plese let me know.
