BitCoin Plugin?

Bitcoin integration is more complicated than most payment gateways. Cyber currencies are very different in their handling than your every day MasterCard or Visa transaction. So it isn't surprising that it hasn't happened yet, without a client backing the project financially.

So, at the request of a few clients, and after discussing this with Nicolas and Jerome at Joomla World Conference this weekend, I'm posting a crowdfunding page for Bitcoin payment plugin development for HikaShop. Anyone who is interested in helping make a Bitcoin payment plugin a reality for HikaShop is encouraged to contribute.

Once the goal is reached, development will begin as quickly as possible and all contributors will receive a copy of the final extension. If the goal is not reached by December 31st, all money will be returned via PayPal to donors, so there's no risk. You'll either get a working Joomla 3.x HikaShop Bitcoin payment plugin or your money back. We will be using the Bitpay method.

This is our first time trying out a crowdfunding approach for custom development, so we'll see how it goes.

We will provide it FOR FREE to everyone once it is ready.

You can spend that money you were thinking to spend via crowdfunding on charity instead.

Very nice, thanks! Which method are you using to process payments in your plugin? Offsite with Bitpay or... ?

Would like to know because some clients have asked for the inline payment for Bitcoin but that is a more complex solution than many need. So want to confirm the method you are building for the community. Thanks again.

That is great news. Thanks to all. I will wait for Extreme_one first then. In case that doesnt work out, I'd be in for a crowdfuning for sure.

I would really like to get feedback on the Bitcoin payment method under development for the community, so we can better answer any clients who come to us asking for Bitcoin and have specific requests for BitPay vs. blockchain vs. inline frames methods, etc.

I'm hoping what is being built is BitPay, because that seems the most commonly requested and needed by our clients, but so far there isn't confirmation in this thread about what the exact method is under development, or when it will should be ready for release...

Extreme_one, would you please add a few more details so everyone will know what is being provided by your team for Bitcoin and HikaShop?

Bitcoin would be awesome! It would be a good selling point for Hikashop. BTC is in the mainstream news pretty much everyday. It could be a highlight feature for a new version of Hikashop.

I am a hikashop business customer and would really love to help finance bitcoint plugin.
Please make this happen ASAP!

@Extreme_one: Can you give us a status update of where you are with the development of the plugin? I think many people are waiting for it. If it will take a long time I think it would be an alternative to crowdfund the development of this plugin as Polished_Geek suggested.

I am also looking for a BitCoin plugin and based on this thread, it looks like it hasn't been developed yet? If it is available, please let me know.

One of the members in this thread, Extreme_one, has been working on a Bitcoin plugin he says will be free to the community. If you scroll up a bit he says it's in testing and should be ready this week, hopefully. So everyone has been waiting for that one.
