When you create a link to the affiliate page, and you are not registered, shouldn't the page not show anything other than maybe "You are not registered as an affiliate, and cannot view this page. Please contact the administrator to become an affiliate for our site."

And then any links on the page should hide. Knowing people, they will assume that this link is usable. It should hide completely, and only have the warning.

We actually wanted to display the banners even for unregistered users as some users might use the banners listing without using the affiliate capabilities, in order to display a "media" page where users can easily get your logo with some HTML around it to link to your website.

Also, you can easily edit that view ( the file show of the view affiliate) to add the check :
if(!empty($this->user->user_id)){
}

around the banners template loading code.
