E-mail Edit

Description

This screen enables you to edit an email. You will be able to modify the email senders information, attachments, subject and the code generating the text and HTML content. If you only need to tweak text in the emails, you can edit the translation files via the configuration page of HikaShop and edit them there. That will allow HikaShop to send emails in the language of the customer.

Remember that emails are subject to a lot of limitations (no javascript, avoid divs, etc) because of the email clients (Outlook, Windows Live, Gmail, Thunderbird, etc).

This feature is only available in the Business version of HikaShop.

Toolbar

• Preview : When you go to use this button, you will see a pop up that invites you to select an order, then a preview will be generated.
• Save : Apply the modifications to the current emails and stay on the same screen.
• Save & Close: Save the current email and return to the emails Management screen. As long as you don't save an email, it will use the main configuration values for the sender information and the "Send HTML" option.
• Cancel : Return to the previous screen without saving the modifications.
• Help : This button enables you to turn ON/OFF the help section, this screen will appear or disappear.

Main information

• Email subject : The subject of the email. For order creation notification and order status notification the subject is translatable via joomla translation files. Thus, you will see an uppercase identification key like ORDER_STATUS_NOTIFICATION_SUBJECT here. You will be able to change it via the edition of translations in the configuration page of HikaShop. ORDER_STATUS_NOTIFICATION_SUBJECT will have three parameters (represented by %s) which are : order number, order status and website url. ORDER_NOTIFICATION_SUBJECT will only have order number and website url.
  Also, you can use tags in the subject to dynamically fill the subject with data from the order. For example, you can use {order_number} to use the order number, {order_full_price} for the total amount of the order, {customer.name} for the name of the Joomla user account linked to the order, {billing_address.address_firstname} for the firstname of the billing address used in the order, etc.
• Send HTML : If set to no, the system will always send the text version. If set to yes, based on the "Multiple part" option in the configuration of HikaShop, the system will send both HTML and text (the HTML being displayed if the receiving client is capable of displaying it, otherwise falling back on the text version), or only the HTML version.
• Published : If an email is published it means that it will be sent based on the order statuses.
• Email history : You can select, create and customize here a template for your emails.
• Design: see the Design section below. The template selector moved there.
• Attached Files : You can drag 'n' drop files from your computer. The files will be uploaded automatically to your web server. Please remember that the file upload limit of your php.ini still applies to that interface.

Sender information

• From Name : That's the name displayed as sender information name when your customers read the email.
  
• From Address : That's the address displayed as sender information address when your customers read the email.
• Reply-to Name : That's the name displayed as receiver information name when your customers send a reply to the email.
• Reply-to Address : That's the address displayed as receiver information address when your customers send a reply to the email.
• BCC : You can add here Blind carbon copy email addresses for your emails (for example : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.,This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.,This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
• CC : You can add here Carbon copy email addresses for your emails (for example : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Design

• Email template: the frame around the content of the email: the canvas, the logo or the shop name, the card, the footer. HikaShop comes with two modern ones, clean (a light canvas, the template of every email on a new install) and bold (a colored canvas), and keeps the older ones. The thumbnail shows this email with the selected template. The Choose a template button opens a gallery where each card is a live preview of this email with one of the templates, with your logo, your colors and your latest order or user. The pen button opens the settings of the selected template (colors, fonts, corner radius, width, color of the social icons) with a preview which follows the values as you change them, and a Code tab with the file itself; saving writes your copy of the template, kept through the updates of HikaShop. The plus button creates a template of your own; the "Save as" field of that popup writes the template under another name, and refuses a name which is already taken by another template. The colors, the fonts and the logo are shared by every email which uses the template; the logo is the "Your logo URL" setting of the configuration.
• Hero: what the template displays above the content of this email. The default of the template (the title and lead sentence with bold, nothing with the others), none, the title and lead sentence with a button to the order, the progress of the order as steps (order placed, payment confirmed, shipped, the current one from the status of the order), a picture you upload (600 x 280 pixels, or twice that), or a headline and a paragraph you write here.
• Blocks after the content: the blocks displayed after the content of this email, in the order of the list; drag a block to move it. The gear of a block opens its settings, which apply to every email displaying it: the phone of the contact block, the texts and the link of the promotional message, the number of related products. The social networks of the footer come from the "Follow us" tab of the social plugin.

Blocks

The content of an email can insert ready-made parts with a tag such as {BLOCK:contact}, wherever the tag is placed in the HTML version of the email. Each block matches the colors and the fonts of the selected template and prints nothing when it has nothing to show. The blocks shipped with HikaShop:

• {BLOCK:contact}: boxes with the email address of the shop (the "From address" of the configuration), its phone (set in the file of the block) and its address (the "Your shop name & address" setting of the configuration).
• {BLOCK:related_products}: up to three products related to the ones of the order, or the latest products of the shop with a picture when there are none, with their thumbnail, name and price.
• {BLOCK:promo}: a title, a sentence and a button, for a free shipping offer, a discount code or a link to your FAQ. The texts are language strings you can change with a language override, the URL is set in the file of the block.
• {BLOCK:social}: the pages of your shop on the social networks, from the "Follow us" tab of the HikaShop social plugin, with their icons. The new templates place it in their footer.
• {BLOCK:hero_title}, {BLOCK:hero_steps}, {BLOCK:hero_image}, {BLOCK:hero_text}: the heroes the bold template places above the content, chosen per email in the settings of the template. hero_steps displays the progress of the order as steps (order placed, payment confirmed, shipped); an order in a status which is in no step, such as a cancelled one, gets no steps.

The order emails come with the contact and related products blocks after the order details. The files of the blocks are in media/com_hikashop/mail/blocks; a copy with the .modified.php suffix next to one of them replaces it, and extensions can offer blocks of their own.

Text version

The text version of an email is built from its HTML version when the email is sent, for the email clients which do not display HTML. The "Preview the text version" button shows it with your latest data. A text version written by hand in the mail folder, as older versions of HikaShop allowed, is still used when it exists.

Content

• HTML version : The HTML version of an email will be generated by this code. It contains mainly HTML code with PHP code in it to add translation capabilities and be able to generate order information. It is presented in two tabs: the View builder, where the blocks of the email can be moved and removed, and the Code itself. The List of available tags button of the Code tab opens the tags this email can display; clicking one copies it, closes the list and puts the cursor back in the editor, ready to paste.

• Text version : Built from the HTML version when the email is sent, see the Text version section above.

• Preload version : The Preload version of an email will be generated by this code. It contains mainly PHP code in it to automatically load information which will be used through the HTML version.
