I was having trouble w/ Hikashop suddenly not allowing me to get to checkout. So I upgraded to 2.0. Now on several (but not all) categories I get a fatal error: "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 72 bytes) in /. . . /libraries/joomla/html/html/select.php on line 438".

Help please!

Hi,

This error is not directly linked to HikaShop.
Your PHP memory limit (128MB) as been reach during the checkout.
Please unpublish some unused hikashop plugins or update your php memory limit.
With Joomla debug activated, you can have a report of the memory used and you could find which elements consume your memory.

Thanks for the response. I started going thru the plugins and found nearly all were now duplicated. It would appear that 2.0 installed replacement plugins w/o deleting the old. No wonder I ran out of memory. This also seems to throw the issue right back into Hikashop's court, perhaps an actual bug.

Thanks again,

We didn't get anyone with the issue of having plugins duplicated when updating. Maybe it comes from your version of Joomla ? Almost no one is using it since it is not supported anymore by Joomla.
However, having plugins duplicated shouldn't change much memory wise and 128MB is already a pretty high limit.

After deleting these duplicated plugins, do you still have the memory limit error ?

Greetings,

Yup. Still getting the memory error. I'm starting to wonder if there's a problem with my database. I tried to uninstall the plugins and got errors that the files weren't there. I checked the files via my CP and they were definitely gone but J! says they're still there.

Hi,

Do you have thumbnails in your categories ? Do you have same problems in product listing ?
I know that image resizing could use a lot of memory (because the image has be uncompress in the memory to be resized).
With a special configuration, it is possible that HikaShop should regenerate all thumbnails and, if there are big images, it could use a lot of memory (even if we "unset" the image data).

It could be an explanation, but there are a lot of other possibilities (in HikaShop, in other plugins or in Joomla).

Greetings,

I do have thumbnails for categories. Most have small file sizes (around 50k) though I've one that rings in at 222k. The pixel sizes are all about 220x220 but are shown at less than half that: 100x100 - 75x75. I could try using ones that are actually 75x75 so it doesn't have to manipulate them. Would that help?

Hi,

I made some memory tests and the thumbnail generation works good.

Have you the joomla debug plugin ?
On some working page (hikashop and no-hikashop), could you check the memory usage ? Are they near the limit ?

Greetings,

I checked the debug plugin's memory report both Hikashop and non and both frontend and backend. The highest memory usage it reported was 26.41M. Of course, debug didn't report at all once J! threw the error.

Thanks for your help thus far.

Hi,

Would it be possible to have a backend access and ftp access of your website ?
I want to use a modified version of the debug plugin in order to stop the page process before the limit reach.

Hi,

Problem fixed !
The product listing module which was associated to the menu had a wrong configuration.
This product listing should display "0 products" per page. So it was going into an infinite loop while creating the pagination.

We would create a patch in HikaShop in order to do not accept "0 products" per page on listing.
The patch would be include in the next version of HikaShop.
But for the moment, your problem is fixed.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I never would have found that.

Now I can go back to trying to solve the original problem: users can't buy the items. (That's another topic.)

Thanks again,
