I am VERY new to having Translations on a web site, and to be honest I have read so many different ways that they work.
So I installed FaLang and HikaShop hoping I could put together a small on-line shop.
I can get a few things to Translate
The front page module has all the FaLang Translations
But just how does all the other stuff work

I would love to see a screen shot of how the Product details and what should I add to each language field ?
If there is anyway someone could show me just how to set it up, I would be grateful
Cheers
James

Hi,

Once you installed HikaShop, make sure that you configure the Languages manager of Joomla to support different content languages and then turn on the "mutlilingual edition interface" option of the Languages tab of the configuration of HikaShop so that when you edit your products/categories, you'll be able to translate your content. Also make sure that you have the different language files of HikaShop installed on your website (in the Languages tab of the configuration).
I would also recommend to enable the joomla languages switcher module so that you can switch from one language to another on your frontend for your tests.

Hi,

To edit the HikaShop content, you should be able to edit the content directly on the product edition page for example.
On this page click on the flag of the desired language then fill the fields with the translated content.

To edit translation keys you have to edit the language file in HikaShop > Configuration > Languages.

The link to the language documentation is:

Hi,

They should not popup all at the same time.
I think that there is a javascript error or something like that.

Thanks to check with your browser console if any error is returned and give us that error message.

You just have to click on the tab of the desired language, then fill the fields for this language.

For example, select Japanese tab, set the product name in Japanse, the product description in Japanese and save, then in the frontend when selecting the japanese, the product informations will be in japanese.

So you are telling me
I have to add product name in Japanese, the product description in Japanese Plus all the other stuff

So what do all these language files do?
and Integrated multilingual content means ?

And where do I get the product description in Japanese - Chinese & Korean

The language files translate the interface of HikaShop in the different languages. For example the "add to cart" button text.

"Integrated multilingual content edition" means that you can directly add/edit your translations from your content edition page (with the flags popups).

Usually, you translate that yourself.

Now, if you want something that automatically translate the text for you, then that's not falang that you need on your website. You need to install such module on your website and it will translate the whole pages automatically for you:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/languag...tomatic-translations

Note however that automatic translation is not that good, especially for Japanese/Chinese/Korean languages.

Hi,

This is an issue with the JV bing translator module. You should contact them to report the issue on the translations not working on buttons.
Also, you can use another one if you want. For example, on our website, we're using GTranslate and it's working fine for us and it translates everything.

Hi
I have turned off the JV bing translator module and switched back to the FaLang Language Switcher but only the Japanese works with "add to cart"
In fact the Chinese does not work anywhere

Could it be a bug ?

The GTranslate uses Google which China is blocking

Hi,

The add to cart button text is an interface translation string. So that is handled by the HikaShop language file, not via Falang. You need to download the chinese language file of HikaShop via the Languages tab of the configuration and it should work.

Hi
I already have the FOUR HikaShop Language files as my post two days ago shows.

And I downloaded it again and placed it in the Joomla Language folder, overwriting the previous version.

Then I used the auto updater and got "Hikashop found your language on hikashop.com, this language file will be loaded on your textarea so you can save it and use it on your own website'

It would appear that you win some and lose some, as the /checkout.html will only translate some of the words

Hi,

Regarding the Chinese translations, I think that there was a problem during the save of the language file.
Thanks to try to save it again, and try to add a translation in the override part in order to see if the file is called on the frontend.
