Hello,

You need to edit the field to make it translatable.

Yes I EDIT the fields otherwise it wouldn't be possible to translate them I know that !

I bought Falang and when I edit the custom fields there is no flag and I can't translate them.
So I went to Component -> Falang-> Translation and choose Custom fields and it is the same : only the Field Name gets translated not the content Field Values of the custom field
For exemple here is a content
Noir::Noir::0 Marron foncé::Marron foncé::0 Marron::Marron::0 Marron Cognac::Marron Cognac::0 Marron fauve::Marron fauve::0 Rouge::Rouge::0 Orange::Orange::0 Crème::Crème::0 Blanc::Blanc::0 Bleu::Bleu::0 Bleu
that doesn't get translated I tried and wrote in the Translation:
Black::Black::0 Dark brown::Dark brown::0 etc but it doesn't work ..

My custom fields have the same title but different values according to the products for exemple:
one product will have Leather colour: brown an other product will have Leather colour: black etc... same field but different values
Only the title "Leather colour " is translated and sometimes even not !.

Could you, please, advise on a solution
Thanks
Sophie

Hi Jerome

I contacted Sephane from Falang regarding my problem with custom fields translation, he checked it up and he said there was a problem.
I beleive he wrote to you about it so hopefully a solution will come out soon !
Best wishes
Sophie

Hi,

You have two types of custom fields:
1 the custom fields where you configure values in them and you can select one or several values in the element (dropdown, checkbox, radio, etc)
2 the custom fields which let you enter a value directly in the element (text, text area, etc)

Until recently, only the type 1 custom fields were translatable. To do so, it's easy. Instead of enter the text in one language in the "title" field of each value of the custom field, you need to enter a translation key of your choosing. For example, you can enter NOIR there.
Then, in the translation override (you can access the text area to edit it at the bottom of the popup of the language file translation, under the "languages" tab of the HikaShop configuration), you can add such line:
NOIR="Black"
or:
NOIR="Noir"
(for each language file).
That way it's easy to translate them:
you translate the values once, and then you only have to select the value once in the element. When the custom field is displayed, it will automatically display the translated title to the user.
In fact, you don't even need Falang to translate these custom fields since it uses the language file system of Joomla.

For the type 2 custom fields, we've added last year a "translatable" setting so that you can translate the value you enter in each element. So it's more work, but you have more flexibility. This method requires Falang.

Thank you Nicolas for your answer
I understand the way to translate custom fields type 1 and 2
Type 1 is ok but the type 2 with the translatable option ON still doesn't work there aren't any flags so they can't be translated.
Stephane from Falang had a look at it and said I set everything properly
I can't tranlate text or texterea custom fields
What can I do ?
Thanks

one more issue : I "Activated the edition of content in multiple languages" but it doesn't seem to work
I get one flag per product and it opens in a window and then I can translate.
I tought I would be able to translate directly in the product edit page ?

More over I don't have the option Translation published by default

Is it normal ?

Hi,

It's normal.
The translation edition interface of HikaShop elements is done through popups.
And the option "Translation published by default" has been removed and is activated automatically and can't be turned off.
