Adding images and text to category list page?

Normally, you used a menu to display that page. In that menu options, you have an "associated modules" option for which you have a select button. When clicking on that button a popup will be displayed letting you select modules to be displayed below the menu. In Display->content modules, you can create a new module with an ordering direction DESC and the ordering field being product_created and then you will be able to select it in this "associated modules" option.
