Hi

I'm wondering if this is possible...? I have access to the MySQL DB and if needed I can write PHP but wondered if anyone else had done this...?

Hi,

There is no import function from RedShop in HikaShop, only VirtueMart 1.x is supported.
It's always possible if you run queries to move the data from redshop tables to HikaShop tables. But that probably won't be easy.
You can see what we did for the VM import in the file administrator/components/com_hikashop/helper/import.php
The VM import code starts around the middle of the file.

Thanks Nicolas

I may even look and see if VM has an import function, install it, import the data and then import to Hika. you never know...

The coding for Red is terrible, I can't even run a select query withot running into errors.

You can try to export a CSV of the products from redshop and import it in hikashop but you will have to adapt it before so it's really not as easy as the VM import.
Unfortunately for now, we don't have any other solutions for that.

No worries, i have a few shops i will be looking at moving over to hikashop possibly. I may hire a freelancer to do it, and if i do and if it actually works i will send you the script for you to use or put up on the website.

Hi.

No. Sorry, it's not good news. I lost a client paying something like 3,000 GBP a year for the maintenance of their site because of Red's incompetence.

I had to import EVERYTHING manually.

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that. That must have quite stressful.

My client is mostly complaining about the speed and some clients don't want to use the site cause it's too slow.
Like I said in a previous post. I takes up to 15 seconds to load a page with products.
That's why I'd like to migrate everything to hikashop and test the speed.
Heard some good things about the speed of HikaShop.

I really wish there was a import tool to migrate from redshop to HikaShop.
I'm sure that more people would shift to HikaShop if there was such a thing.

Cheers

Hi SG.

I run a hosting company that may be able to help but I know from painful experience that Red is SLOOOW to load.

Try and disable ALL the image gallery carousels and see if that helps, use Firebug to see what's slowing the site down and if you like I can certainly help with the hosting also. Just check out www.whatnowebsite.co.uk .
