Get rid of product id from SEF urls

Is there some way to get rid of product id from SEF urls.
e.g. prod id is 4 for product called 15 class book.
instead of 15-class-book.html I am getting 4-15-class-book.html.
This looks confusing to the punter and is annoying me
Anyone got any clues?
