use email as login vs userid

Good afternoon - I have three items to ask about:

1. Is it possible, or easily possible to change the login from UserID to email address?

2. Can I get the system to have customers 'preregister' before even beginning to shop and add to the cart?

3. Can the registration fields be tied in anyway to Community Builder, that is, all fields even custom come from and store to CB?

Thanks,
Kurt

Hi,

1. If you use the HikaShop registration form, in the checkout options you can choose simplified registration, by this way the email will be automatically used instead of the username.
2. Yes, you can have customers 'preregister' before beginning to shop.
3. The custom fields can't be tied to Community Builder.

OK, lets focus first on #2. Preregister. What I'd like to do is have a 'login / Register' menu item that the customers would use prior to entering the shopping area. Where would I tie into the HikaShop Registration? I've got CB up right now but .... am not finding a benefit to it right now so it can go if needed for this particular site.

Thank you,
Kurt

If I understand, what you need is that customers must be registered to access the shop.

To do that you have to limit the access to the menu - modules for the registered users. Restrict the access for the products in the products edition page, and on the categories.

hmm , I have granted access to the store for testing purposes and it is requesting that I login to view the store..
I am getting frustrated.

the most basic things are not working.

the menu was set to registered.. now public.. all other menus are set to public.

cannot find anything regarding registering.

Hi,

What do you need ?

You want that your products can be displayed only for the registered users ?
To do that you just have to change the access level on the products edition page.
You don't have to change the access to the menu, unless you want to hide it too.

hi Xavier, sorry Mate I was having a Brain Fizzle..

What I had done , earlier last week sometime was set the actual 'Menu' to registered.
as well as all the sub-menu's etc.

Then I changed all the Sub-Menus to Public and it still asked for me to login in order to access the page.

anyway after a nice walk I came back refreshed and managed to find the 'Main menu' Item that was still set to 'Registered' and change it to 'Public'

Done.

Now all I need to do is try and build a nice looking Menu with all the product categories/names down the side.
is this detailed in the documentation some-place?

also where is the 'Product edition page' please .. and can I set some products to be for 'Registered only' and others for 'Public'?
Iam using Joomla 1.5 for this website.. so the ACL side of things is not as good as 2.5 , hesitant to upgrade to 2.5 for this client as they are on top of google and it may become a little bit expensive in time and resources.

Regards

Reace.

For this menu, you have to create a menu with many menu item having the type "products listing" or "categories listing".
In the options, just select the category to display for the menu item.

To display the menu on the left, just assign a module to this menu with the left position of your template. (this part is only joomla related)

The product edition page, is in HikaShop > Products, then edit your product and you will see the product edition page.
The ACL needed are present even if you have Joomla 1.5, because these ACL are in the HikaShop component.
