Use Email Address as a Username

Hello,

I would like to allow users to use an email address as a username. I don't want to remove the username field and force everyone to use an email, but if a person would like to enter an email address in the username field I would like it to be accepted rather than getting an error message. Is there any way to do that?

Hi,

There is no restriction on the username.
You can try in our demo website and create an account which have, as username, an email. It works.

It must be a restriction on Joomla, then, because I get a notice "Registration failed: Please enter a valid username." whenever I try to register a user with an email address as a username. Thanks for the info.
