Checkout big problem

Hi Guys

I have a massive problem. When my customers checkout, when you press the next button that takes them through to the paypal page it is not connecting through it is taking ages and ages to go through. We have the correct paypal details in Hikashop can you tell me why it isn't connecting through to paypal fast enough my website is www.londonchina.co.uk

Hi,

I just checked and it's only taking 1 second to be redirected to PayPal on my end on your website.
All I can think of is that your internet connection is slow and thus it takes time to be redirected.

The customer that had the problem said he was using google chrome do you think it is a browser issue.

No. I'm also using Chrome. It's really his internet connection which is slow.

Just checked with one of the customer that was having problems checking out he was using an old version of of Google chrome version 220.1. 229 .94
Do you think this is the problem

Was there any further investigation into this. Relatively recently, many customers, some long time ones, are having the same issue on our site, easyaction.co.uk
It's now definitely having an effect on sales.

Joomla 2.5, HikaShop 2.1.0, I can let you know PHP version and other details if this will assist.

Hi,

I test your website and I didn't have or see any problem.
I've been redirected to paypal, I took less than one second.

There is no problem with HikaShop, the page is loading well and the customer is redirected to paypal afterwards.
We can't do anything for the latency between paypal and the customers...

Thanks for looking at this.
I have to say, when I test it I do not have any issues myself most of the time so it's difficult to troubleshoot.

Can you suggest any direction so I can dig deeper? Incompatible plug-ins or components? PHP version? Template or even hosting issues?

Well, the problem is that the slowdown is between the customer and PayPal/your server.
The solution is for the customer himself to have a fast enough connection and you can't do anything about it unfortunately.
So I don't really see what you can do.

I believe I am having a similar problem. I had two customers last weekend who could not complete transactions through PayPal.

I may have diagnosed the issue:

--> Windows XP -- both Chrome and IE
--> Only happens with products with an xml special character in their name, for example " or &

A colleague with access to an old computer tested this for me; a product sale for a 14" Hanging Bird Bath stalled indefinitely on the "You are being forwarded to PayPal..." page, while the Echo Valley Birdbath product sale was processed promptly and properly. I do not have a similar problem using my own (up-to-date) system.

I will be investigating the code of the PayPal plugin shortly.

Please do not be so dismissive of such errors in the future.

That's interesting to know about special characters, one product which has just failed for one customer is this one:

If there's anything I can do to assist in troubleshooting and to specifically confirm this issue please let me know.

We are not dismissive at all.
If there is an error that we can reproduce we will fix it.
Based on our tests double quotes should not be a problem since the variables are escaped when generating the redirection form.
Let us know what you find.

@steveknight, are you able to reproduce the problem that your customer had with that product ?
