Cart won't clear after purchase

-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.3

I cannot get my cart to clear / empty.

I simply add an item; go through the checkout to the finish and pay, and afterwards, I can go back to any page and the cart that I just purchased still has the items in it.

This problem does not occur on guest checkout (pretty sure, but that configuration was a while back), but only when they login, as we want them to do now.

I've tried "Clean cart when order is" confirmed - and the other option 'created'. Neither option works. But we want the cart to be cleared on confirmation as we have a prompt at the start of the checkout to go and add a donation. Just on this, I don't think in the back-end I've ever seen an order have the status of 'created' - the order seems to start with 'confirmed' (even though the "Default order status" is 'created').

I've got all caching disabled: joomla config cache is off; gzip is off; cache is cleared; system plugin is off; jch optimise is off; htaccess is back to default; and the template does not appear to have any caching options except minifying css/js.
I've reset the browsing history, cache and forced refresh, and tried multiple browsers - all to no avail.

I've seen a couple of threads recommending changing the session handler, but neither 'database' or 'none' work.

I've given admin access via the contact form previously - if you need this hopefully you've still got the records.

Hi,

Please give us a screenshot of your payment method settings.
If the order status is set to be "confirmed" by default, could you try to set it to "created" and try again ?

Hi,

HikaShop have an option called "Clear cart when the order is"

Otherwise, regarding the source code of the plugin "eway", the plugin asked for a cart clean when it display the thank you page.
So when the eway thank you page is displayed in your website, HikaShop should empty the cart.
