Add a "Tip" step to the checkout workflow?

Hi,

I am using the donation plugin to allow people to add a tip to their order on my site.

I want to have the option to add a tip as the first step in the checkout workflow. Is there any way to do this?

If not, how can I integrate this step? Should I redirect them to a "product" page when they checkout, and then to the main checkout process?

Thanks!

Hi,

The donation plugin only supports custom fields of the table "item". And custom item fields can only be displayed on a product details page.
So if you want to have a tip option using this plugin, you would have to either add the tip custom item field to all the products, or to redirect or have a link to the product details page of a product with that custom item field.
The alternative is to use this plugin, which was made to do what you want:
www.hikashop.com/marketplace/product/202...rice-by-obsidev.html
This plugin supports custom fields of the table "order" and these custom fields can be displayed directly on the checkout using the "fields" view in your "checkout workflow".

Hi,

I've bought the plugin, but how do I configure it to work with percentages? Are there detailed instructions somewhere?

Thanks.

Hi,

First, you need to create a custom field of the table "order" and of the type "single dropdwn" via the menu Display>Custom fields with different values of tips so that the customer can select the tip in the custom order field on the checkout.
Then, you need to go in the menu System>Plugins of HikaShop and create a new plugin instance of that plugin. There, you'll find the settings of the plugin where you can select this custom order field and enter values and corresponding prices so that based on what the customer selects in the dropdown the corresponding price will be added to the cart.

Hi again,

I tried to do this, but I think I am doing something wrong!

Can you take a look at the settings on the two "steps" and let me know what I am doing wrong? I do need them to be percentages, so that might be complicating things?

Thanks!

Hi,

The plugin doesn't handle percentages.
Note that I never said that this plugin could handle percentages.
And you need to enter the values and corresponding prices in the "prices" table of the plugin instance. So if in your custom field you have the values 5, 10, 15 and 20, you need to have 4 rows of prices in the plugin instance, one for each value of the custom field with the corresponding price that will be added to the cart when the value is selected by the customer.

Hmmm. I did say it was for tips though. That's usually percentages.

ANYWAY, when I try to set up the plugin, it will only allow me to create one price. The "+" sign disappears after I add the first one.

Obviously I need to add several. How do I do that?

This one.

Do I have to do a different instance of the plugin for each price?

Would be nice if there were documentation.

Hello,

Looking at your previous screenshot :
www.hikashop.com/media/kunena/attachment...customfieldprice.png

I do have the feeling that the "+" button is still working but is not visible for you.
Some fields are too wide for what they should. It looks like a CSS issue
I suppose that if you try to resize your browser window, you can force the display of the page in "one column" instead of "two" ; and make the "+" button visible again.

Thanks. Would be nice if it was all responsive. I suppose I'll have to try to force it to work somehow.

Hi there,

I got it to work, and I've added the prices on the plugin. I added the custom field to the checkout process, BUT, when I select a price from the drop down list, it does not add to the the order value?

What am I missing?
