Bulk Create Variants No Longer Working

When creating variants we used to select all of the characteristics required, hit save and all of the variants with the various combinations selected would be created. Since version 3.2.1 we can no longer do this. Only one variant can be created at a time. If multiple characteristics are selected only the last combination is used to create a single variant. This substantially increases the time and cost required to build a Hikashop website for products with multiple characteristics (eg, a shirt that comes in 4 colours and 8 sizes requires 32 variants to be created in 32 steps where those same variants used to take one step. A medium sized store with 1000 stock items can now require 31,000 more manual steps to create the site compared to earlier versions.

Is this a bug or a planned change? Either way, can we get it changed back as we are currently having to create products in our test site with an older version of Hikashop and then importing the products to the live site.
