-- HikaShop version -- : 5.1.0

When selling to a US customer we now have to pre-pay the tariff.

Is there a way to define an item price Per country?

Would the price calculations plug-in be needed to create some kind of rule\calculation to arrive at the "price" that would be applicable for a US customer?

Hi,

It's not possible to have formulas or conditions based on the address information with the price calculations plugin, at least not at the moment.

However, since HikaShop 5.1.2, product prices can be restricted based on the zone. And thus, you can configure different prices for different countries in each product. So, you could update HikaShop to use that.

Another possibility is to create discounts with negative amounts / percentages. Discounts can be restricted on the zone and on the products / categories too, so they will act as a fee.
The advantage with this is that you can configure fees for whole categories. For example, if you know that all products of category X require Y% of taxes for the USA, then you could just create one discount for the whole category. This would also allow you to not update HikaShop if that's a problem on your website for some reason.
The downside is that you cant configure real discounts on the products anymore ( or you have to restrict the real discounts for other countries ) because you can only have one discount applied to a product at a time and the real discount would take precedence over the fee discount.

Many thanks Nicolas - I have updated the version and using the price\zone configuration you mentioned

I missed that feature being added in 5.1.2 (oops)

Hi Nicolas,

In addition to specific tariffs for each country of origin, we must pay a clearance fee of $1.69 + 10% of the landed costs. Adding extra complexity, the duties are calculated in USD and then converted back to AUD in my case.

The US tariff situation is a PITA in that tariffs must be paid before the items arrive in the US.

Are there any plans to incorporate US tariff charges and fees into Hikashop?

Cheers,
Jason.

Hi,

In addition to specific tariffs for each country of origin, we must pay a clearance fee of $1.69 + 10% of the landed costs.

For the clearance fee, you can use the cart fee plugin:
www.hikashop.com/marketplace/product/279-cart-fee.html
It is made for these kind of fees that are global to the cart / order.
You can use a formula like this:
{price}*1.1+1.69

I'm not sure what you mean.
Being able to calculated the extra charges and fees should be possible already. It's just a matter of setting up, on your end, the necessary things properly, whether it's the cart fees plugin, prices per country, tax rules, etc.
Having the charges and fees pre setup in HikaShop is not possible. First, we're a small team, and we don't have to size to be able to manage that. Just the sales tax in the USA has many rules and conditions based on the type of good you're selling, where you're selling it from, who you're selling to, and where the destination is. That's why we made an integration with TaxCloud, to automaticallly calculate the sales tax for US merchants. And then you have different rules for different countries, etc. And now you have the tariffs which adds another level of complexity to keep track of everything.
Even more so as the rules change every other day...
