Coupon Auto Apply

Hi,
I have set up 4 coupons which auto apply to the basket depending on how many products are in there.
This is all working fine.

I would like to offer a different level of discount to a specific group of people, e.g. 'elderly' or whoever, and give them a code directly.

The problem I have, is that the auto applied coupon acts immediately and removes the discount code input box,
so the 'elderly' cant input the code they were given.

anyone have any ideas how to solve this other than make everyone input codes?
