parent cats display on and off within subcats?!

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to hikashop so still learning!

In my site I have main parents categories called "construction", "joinery", "ironmongery", "bespoke products" and "3d design".

Each category has subcategories for example ironmongery has "door handles", "hinges" etc. I use the JSE megamenu for hikashop to display these categories as dropdowns.

There are no products in the store yet so currently each of the 5 parent categories just has brief information and then graphic links to the subcategories within that parent category. This works fine.

However I do notice that sometimes the sub cats are clicked and displayed they display just the brief info about themselves (as expected because no products exist yet), yet other times they will display the info plus some graphic links underneath back to the 5 parent categories.

It does appear quite random in how sometimes they will display with the parent cat links yet other times they wont. I want it so they do not display links back to the parent cats.

One thing I have noticed though, is that when it displays without the parent cat links, it has come from the megamenu via an url such as "index.php/component/hikashop/product/listing/17-handles", yet other times when it has displayed the category with the parent links on it it has come to it via an url such as "index.php/bespoke-products/product/listing/17-handles".

The strange thing is though, is that I have used exactly the same link off the megamenu in both cases?

I wondered if this may be a problem with the JSE megamenu or if it may be a problem with the set up of my hikashop and if there are any ways to correct this?
