1064 error in SQL

Hi,
I'm not sure how this happened as no error was displaying last time I worked on the website.
Yesterday Faboba logged in to find the issues with its component, don't know what he really did in the administration and if what he did can be the cause of this error.
Today I cannot access hikashop in the administration and also had to unpublish the manufacturer slider module to get rid of the error in the front-end.

Administration:
1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'AND category_type='status' LIMIT 1' at line 1 SQL=SELECT category_id FROM det_hikashop_category WHERE category_parent_id= AND category_type='status' LIMIT 1

Front-end:

clicking on product -> brands
leads to empty "explorer" in the cat tree and root in the listing
