Hi,

Editing your shipping methods via the menu System>Shipping methods and set the "tax category" option to "none" and it won't charge taxes on the shipping.

I am having this same problem
Hikashop Business v2.3.5
Joomla 3.3.6
Using taxcloud plugin to calculate shipping

Tax is being charged on shipping and should not be, I have the shipping methods via the menu System>Shipping methods / "tax category" option to "none" and it still charges tax on shipping?

Here is what I get:
Subtotal $49.95
Shipping $7.95
Taxes $4.46 ---(Should be $3.85)
Total $62.36

How can I fix it so it does not charge tax on the shipping?

Hi,

The TaxCloud plugin overrides the tax calculations of HikaShop and it will apply taxes on the shipping fee if you filled in the option "Shipping TIC id" of the TaxCloud plugin. Empty that option as it is by default and the shipping won't be taxed by the TaxCloud plugin.

Hi,

I checked the code and HikaShop sends the shipping price to TaxCloud without a TIC id in that case and thus it uses the default TIC id configured in your TaxCloud account.
If you don't need to charge taxes on the shipping, then I guess that you could try to enter the TIC id 11010 for the shipping TIC id option. That way, TaxCloud won't give you any taxes for the shipping if the shipping fees are not supposed to be taxed in your state.

If you set the TIC id 11010 and taxed are still charged by TaxCloud, then it means that the shipping should be taxed.
Are you sure that the shipping should not be taxed in your place ?
I didn't get your whole TaxCloud settings, but from what I understand your post code is in MI and if I look for shipping fees tax rates in MI, I get a rate of 6% on the TaxCloud website:

Hi Nicolas,

I have had issues with taxes using TaxCloud and have numerous threads elsewhere for multiple tax lines being displayed and captured on orders. I have narrowed it down to the issue in this topic. I live in California, and I know shipping is not taxable.

When I have the TIC ID set to 11010 it does the calculation at 0%, but then the order shows multiple tax lines in the email notification to the customer and in the additional order info in the back-end.

When I clear out the TIC ID, it then calculates tax on shipping which is wrong. But it does only show one line now, but is obviously wrong.

How can I solve this issue?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ann

Hi,

You want to enter the TIC id so that the shipping tax is calculated at 0% by TaxCloud.
And if you don't want to display several lines of taxes, turn off the "Detailed tax display" option of the HikaShop configuration and you'll only have one line of taxes. And you'll be able to change the name of the tax line with a translation override if necessary.

Thank you Nicolas,

I did exactly as your recommended:

Used TIC 11010
Turned off the "Detailed Tax Display"

But both the lines disappear now.

Thoughts of what else I can do?

Thanks,

Ann

I don't see why both lines would disappear. Could you give more information on that ?
On which page ? The checkout ? The order ? The email notifications ?

Hi Nicolas,

The tax lines are not visible in the order details and the email confirmation.

It is available in the checkout process though.

Please advise what else I can try. I need to get this resolved this weekend or my husband will be filing for a divorce ;) ;)

Another thing real quick.

Another difference I noticed in turning the Tax Detail tab off is the % of the taxes that are being applied is no longer visible in the checkout process. It only labels it as Taxes whereas when the details feature is on it will give you Taxes (8.75%).

Thanks,

Ann

Hello again.

I sent an individual message with more details and login information for further assistance on this issue. Can you please confirm that you received it? I don't understand how the support system works with Hikashop outside of this forum.

Thanks,

Ann

It has almost been a whole week. Can someone from customer support get me some help on the issue of TaxCloud Shipping Tax Line being displayed as ZERO on my email confirmations/order information. I sent an email a week ago and have not heard anything at all. Please help, please.

Is there a ticket system for HikaShop support/help?

Thanks,

Ann

Hi,

I would need to do some tests on your website to move forward.
Could you provide a FTP access via our contact form with a link to this thread ?

Hello.

Can you please give me the location in the TaxCloud plugin file where I can disable the Shipping Tax item?

We have been stuck on this issue for a month now and are losing valuable time to launch our products.

I beg of you.

Is there any developer that I could hire to help me?

Thanks!

Ann

Hi,

The TaxCloud plugin files are in the folder plugins/hikashop/taxcloud

I actually wanted to do my tests today on your website and the FTP access worked, but the user account you had provided before didn't work anymore and you had your website in maintenance, so I wasn't able to access your frontend or backend in order to do my tests in order to find a solution.
Could you provide again a working user account so that we can perform our tests ?
