Tax Calculation

We need the tax calculated on the discounted amount. So in the attached example,

Pre discount price $1000
Post discount price $950

So we need the tax of 7% to be applied to the Post discount price of $950 but it is being calculated on the Pre discount price of $1000 = $70

How can we remedy this situation?

In the backend, under -> System -> Configuration -> Main tab -> "Taxes" section, there's the parameter "Apply discounts". What is it set to in your configuration? Seems it's "Before taxes", but unless I'm completely wrong you want it to be "After taxes". Try that?

Hi, I switched over that parameter and it had the desired affect.

Also in the cart module I have Display price set to Yes but it does not appear. (same screenshot as before)

Do you have any idea why this is?

Maybe it's me, but I don't know what you mean. Can you describe what you want to achieve? Sorry.

Currently in the cart module we can see a price which is unit price x quantity.

Can we display unit price as well in the module?

Oh ok, you want the unit price and the line item total in the small cart module. I don't see that being possible out of the box. Under "Parameters for products" in "Price display method", you have a few options (where "Unit price only" and "all" don't do anything for me), but that's it.
Of course, it's still possible to do with a view modification which shouldn't be too difficult. For as long as you don't run out of space... particularly regarding module width...
