Sorry for the lame title. I honestly don't know how to describe the problem I am having.

For starters, my client reported that the checkout in my shop seemed to require the use to click twice on the "submit" button to complete checkout. I researched that and found that the fix for that was to "set Auto submit shipping and payment methods selection to YES"

in fact I did that, but when I went to test the checkout, I was indeed able to checkout with a single click but other things didn't seem right.

So I decided to test the checkout by creating a brand new profile and take a video of it.

The video is here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAc48VoCLMU&feature=youtu.be
I apologize for the lack of sound but basically what you see in the video is that I first register, then I select shipping (all the while the site is terribly slow)
next I select payment with Credit card and as I am about to enter my CC number, I changed my mind and I clicked on the Paypal radio button
There, nothing happened, so I clicked again and played around with the interface.

Suddenly I noticed several emails coming in and each of them was a new transaction done at the store, even though all along the paypal payment radio button never got selected and I was never taken to Paypal (as you can see in the video)

Below is a screenshot of my email and then one of the order listing in hikashop.

I am going to do more testing, but I feel strongly that I should raise this as a full ticket and try to get some knowledgeable help here to see what may be wrong. In geneal the checkout doesn't seem to work correctly. Beside the long amount of time it takes, people will change their minds and we cannot prevent them from doing so.

This is a screenshot of the notification emails:

I will try to test the checkout again and see how that goes and post (hopefully better) videos here if they display strange behavior.

I wanted to add that I just performed a checkout using the account I created for the previous post and picked Paypal as a choice.

It worked out as expected. I will continue testing all the different options, including adding mistakes uysers may make, siuch as the one in my OP that didn't go well.

I was wondering if there is a "better" workflow for the checkout that separates it into more pages but makes it look a bit faster.

Also, I was wondering if the setting I choose work well for us or not. I am starting to think that I should display shippiung and payment options at the very last page rather than from the beginning as that may eliminate some of the errors and maybe speed up the process.

What is the favorite checkout workflow for the US zone when we want to allow New users, Existing users and Guests to check out?

Hi,

Are you using any cache ? If it is, thanks to disable it.

In Configuration > Checkout, thanks to try to disable the option to auto submit the form when selecting shipping and/or payment method.

The checkout workflow configuration depend really on your needs, etc. We can't really give an advice about the best workflow to use.

Thank you Xavier. Actually my question in regard to the "best workflow" was more directed at any US users than at you guys.

As far as the other suggestion, turning off the cache makes sense. However, in reading your response I find the use of the workd "thanks" a bit obscure. As in here:

If it is, *thanks* to disable it.

I am not sure what "thanks" means in the context. Maybe "think" to disable it?

then in the next line you say:

In Configuration > Checkout, thanks to try to disable

here too I am having a hard time figuring out what "thanks" means in context. Is it maybe an autocorrect artifact?

Hi,

I use the "thanks" as a recommendation, like "you should".

Not sure if it's the good way to ask that. I don't have a perfect English, and I don't really know all the subtleties. ;)
