-- HikaShop version -- : 2.3.2
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.3

I am creating this thread in hopes to help as a tutorial, and somewhat of a continuation of:
www.hikashop.com/forum/payment-methods/8...payments.html#161228

As mentioned by Xavier::

We have to improve that documentation

a) My product will be a "virtual goods" item and it will also be a "subscription", but not a "product" that will download nor shipped via UPS but I would like to mark "shipped or delived", but not important.

b) Paypal for now to start

c) I have just upgraded to new version and have the newer plug in I guess is needed. I see no reason for all the Akeeba crap, true?

Now what? :(

Good day Jerome, and thank you for the reply.

The question was asked, in my last line of the post.
[bold]Now what?[/bold]

I also read other post, "Documentation needs work"

Hikashop Paypal Recurring Payment Plugin = Installed and Active

I also have read this, and unfinished-unsolved?
hikashop.com/forum/2-general-talk-about-...curring-payment.html

1) I have opened existing HikaShop product to "edit"

2) Product type = Virtual and Shippable

How to change, set or create a product to recurring?

Step-By-Step? This post to be tutorial I hope, as well then later to improve documentation please.

Jim

Hi,

How to configure a reccurring subscription product with HikaShop and Akeeba Subscriptions:

1. Install and configure Akeeba Subscriptions on your website.

2. Install the integration plugin for Akeeba Subscriptions that we offer here and activate it:
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...a-subscriptions.html

3. Install and configure the PayPal reccurring payment plugin which is also available on that link. You can configure it via the menu System>Payment methods, like any other payment methods of HikaShop.

3. Create a subscription plan in Akeeba susbcription and make sure that the "reccurring" option there is turned on.

4. When you create/edit the product in HikaShop, you will be able to select that subscription plan with a subscription dropdown at the bottom of the page.

5. That's it. When you purchase that product, the PayPal recurring payment method will display during the HikaShop checkout and your product will be purchased as a reccurring subscription.

Nicolas and all, of course I thank you for the reply and I am sorry about my late reply. I had death in family. I am sorry to ask, but I feel I am asking a question that should be answered?

re:

There are (2). Which one?
hikashop.com/support/support/documentati...a-subscriptions.html

I also guess I am shaking my head as to why "we" have to use anything from Akeeba anyway? As all other Paypal plugins used in HikaShop do NOT require an external plugin from another vendor to operate properly? [ bloated-excess code?]

To me, that is a waste?

Jim

Hi,

There is only one Akeeba Subscriptions extension and you can find it here as explained in the link you gave:
www.akeebabackup.com/products/46-softwar...a-subscriptions.html
Then, you have two integration plugin with and if you read that same documentation we recommend to use the first one.

You need to use Akeeba subscriptions because HikaShop doesn't handle subscriptions on its own. It has nothing to do with the payment plugins.
