Installation Wizard

Hi there,

When I first uploaded Hikashop Essential, the wizard appeared. But I skipped it not realising what it did. However, when I could not see the shop on the front end at all, I uninstalled everything, watched the webinar to learn about setting the shop up and then reinstalled it.

However, there is now no wizard and it goes direct to the dashboard page. I know I can add a menu item and start doing it that way, but the wizard would be much easier and save time.

A simple issue but I haven't a clue on how to fix it - any ideas?

All the best,

Roo.

Hi,

You can call directly the url:
/administrator/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=update&task=wizard

Hi Jerome,

Many thanks - however, it doesn't seem to work.

The wizard appears, I go through it and then save it - yet nothing appears on the home page. No menu item, no shop, nothing!

Something appears in the menu back end but it has no name and nothing appears on the front end when it is published! I am at a loss on how to make the shop appear on the front end!

Any advice (from anyone of course!)?

Many thanks,

Roo

Hi,

Go in the menus Display->Content menus/modules of HikaShop.
There, you can see the menus and modules that were pre installed automatically and enable them manually, without going through the wizard.

Thank you Nicolas.

However, no matter what I do - I cannot get the front end to appear.

Clearly I am doing something wrong - but all I want is to make Hika Shop appear like it does on the webinar video you appeared in.

How do I do this if my wizard doesn't work? For your information, in 'Display' :-

1) The content menus page is empty
2) The content modules has 4 modules - wishlist, cart, content and associated products listing for category listing menu 314.

That's it.

There is not even a menu item/button for the front end!

Also, my display looks like the attached - is this right as I can't read the menu bar unless a word is highlighted by the cursor?

I cannot believe getting the front end to appear should be this difficult! I accept that I must be doing something wrong - but what?

Many, many thanks for your help,

Rupert.

Hi,

This indicates that you already had an old HikaShop installed before on the website, deleted it in some way, and thus, when you installed it again, it wasn't a fresh install and thus it didn't create the default menus and modules that are normally created with a new fresh install of HikaShop's recent versions.
In that case, you have only two solutions:
1. You uninstall HikaShop via the extension manager and completely delete all the hikashop tables from the database via your phpmyadmin and make sure that the administrator/components/com_hikashop and components/com_hikashop do not exist anymore. Then, run the install of HikaShop again and it should do a clean install, and create all the menus/modules that should be created by default.
2. You create your menus/modules manually as explained on our tutorial on how to create them:

Hiya Nicolas,

Thanks for the comprehensive answer, it's appreciated. I will do as you say and do it manually. I think I will learn more that way too!

Lastly, is the image that I attached of the almost invisible text on the menu bar correct - or is that a glitch?

Anyway, many thanks again.

All the best,

Rupert.

Hi,

The menu bar is not really a glitch ; the best is to change his position.
See the option "menu position" in the HikaShop configuration. In Joomla 3 the best is to use "above the main area".

Dear Jerome/Nicolas,

I'm sorry to say that the wizard is still not working - even if I manually run it as per Jerome's first post.

As you know, I had a big installation problem - so I did as per Nicolas's request and uninstalled all components and deleted all hika tables in my database.

When I install it again - no wizard, just straight to dashboard. When I manually run the wizard again, nothing happens and no menus appear and only 3 modules appear via the display (menu bar now ok!).

In the reply by Nicolas to do the following :-

What is the 'administrator/components/com_hikashop and components/com_hikashop do not exist anymore' aspect? Are these in the database tables that I deleted or are these somewhere else? If so, where and how do I delete them?

I am getting really frustrated by this as I can't get anything to work despite reading the tutorials! I am fully aware that I must be doing something wrong - but I cannot see what as I am following all instructions!

Please can you help at your earliest convenience?

Many thanks,

Rupert.

Hi,

That mean that you have to remove these folders and their contents via FTP.
Please try to re-delete all hikashop databases and all hikashop files in the indicated folders, and then re-install.
