-- HikaShop version -- : 2.3.4 Business
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.6
-- PHP version -- : 5.6
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Firefox, Safari

I have imported data from an existing redShop.
Most images have been imported but now no watermarks are shown on the images.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Watermarking is a modification of the image in order to add some extra content.
If the original image in redshop is watermarked ; HikaShop by just copying it will keep it.
Otherwise it will be difficult to HikaShop to perform it. The redshop import does not manage the dynamic watermarking of the images.

Hi,

thank you for your answer. In redShop images were watermarked temporary. So you could change the watermark for all existing images at any time.
So I think in this case I have to watermark all already imported images manualy.
Download all image to my PC watermark them and upload them back to the server. Is this correct?
What is happening with the already created thumbs? Do I have to delete them so that hika Shop creates new thumbs?

Regards,
Bruno

Hi,

Yes, you can download the images from the media/com_hikashop/upload folder, add the watermark with a batch process in your image edition tool, and upload them back via FTP. You'll want to delete the thumbnails folder(s) in that folder so that they can be regenerated automatically by HikaShop.

Hi,

ok, I will do so. A last question to HikaShops watermarking for the future use.
How does HikaShop applies the watermark image:
- I can't choose where the watermark image is placed .. so where is it applied
- what happens to images with different resolutions? Is the watermark image resized to fit
Thanks again for your quick help.

Regards

Hi,

1. The watermark is placed from the bottom right corner of the images. If you want to place it differently, you can add transparent areas to the watermark.

2. The resolution of the image doesn't matter. What matter is the resolution that you set for the thumbnails of the image.

Hi,

I dont't understand what the resolution of the thumbnails have to do with the watermark?
Is this the way how images with watermarks are created:
1. when importing a new image to hikashop, watermark is placed to the right bottom corner of the original image
2. thumbnails get created from the already watermarked image

Thanks

Hi,

Ouch, very very late reply...
Yes indeed the watermark system is working this way, we apply the watermark on the main image and then generate the thumbnails.

If you want to manage the watermark differently, another solution could be to use a software like XnConvert to apply the watermark and resize the images to generate the thumbnails and then upload them to HikaShop image folder via FTP.

Hello,

We have a similar issue. Some of our images have a watermark and some don't, even though we haven't changed the settings.

What is the quickest way to get a watermark on all images?

Thanks!

Hi,

The watermark is applied on the images uploaded via our interface, if you use the browse button to select an image already on the website so the watermark is not added to the image.

The best way is to re-upload the images, or as said in the previous post, use a mass image manager to apply the watermark on the images before uploading them via ftp.
