I need help. I am running in to a couple issues. On my site I want THIS style category menu to be shown on ALL pages of my site, despite where you are. But right now it goes link this:

Home Page I see this image:

When I click on a Main category "CARS" in the image above the next page displays the sub categories only link this:

Then when I click on one of the sub categories to actually view the products in that category the left category menu is gone.

This is using the Categories on one level module.

.....

Now when I use the categories on two levels I see this on my home page (all three images below are ONE long menu):

First of all I want the menu to start of COLLAPSED and then expand out from there not look like it does now. Thats horrible! Also I don't want it to say "No subcategories" under something that also looks bad.

I want the menu set up the EXACT same way with look and feel as your DEMO sites left category menu.

NOW when I go in to the admin Display ---> Content Modules then click on "Categories on 2 level" and try to change "Sub elements filter" from ALL to DIRECT or "Show sub categories" from all to direct and click SAVE those two things just revert back to the way they were before the save. Yet if I change the TITLE and click save the changes work and actually save. Whats going on and how do I make my category menu work right?

I want it to work the same way it does on my OLD site which we are using virtumart and joomla .... see the left category menu here: www.ucanfixit.ca/

We are now migrating to Joomla 3 and Hika Shop and want a simmilar effect but I do like your demo menu better.

Please help!

Hi,

1. That's because you have activated the option "Synchronize with currently displayed item when possible" in the module. So the display will adapt based on the current category that you clicked on the previous page.

2. The listing is not collapsed because the "show sub categories" is set to "all sub categories" instead of "all direct sub categories".

3. The "no subcategories" text can by changed/removed with a translation override:
hikashop.com/download/languages.html#modify

4. It could be a user session preventing you from saving the changes. Try with another browser/user account and see if that helps.

Thank you very much this solved my issues.

It would not save when I was working in my backend using the CHROME web browser from google. When I switched to IE it worked just fine. Might be a bug you need to look in to?

Thanks again
