-- HikaShop version -- : 2.3.0

Hi Guys

I need some guidance and answers on a couple questions please.

My client sells equestrian bits and accessories and has a large and vast amount of items. We are using Hikashop Business as the shopping cart/e-comm component. There are going to be different websites for different countries US,UK,ZA etc.

The database guy would like to use SQL Azure and have all the sites installed and reading from that one SQL Azure database, is this achievable if so how and are there any short falls to this?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately HikaShop is not compatible with SQL Azure, it only works with MySQL.
When HikaShop was created, the multi-database system was not exist in Joomla ; so the queries are made and optimized for MySQL.

Hi,

Basically, Joomla won't install HikaShop and the different queries will not work.

Hi,

WebMatrix can support MySQL ; so if you configure it right, yes HikaShop can work on it.

that's great news, thanks. By "so if you configure it right" ... Do you mean that there is specific way to configure Hikashop on WebMatrix?

No, it's noting to do in HikaShop.
When you setup your Joomla website on WebMatrix, you need to use MySQL as the database.
Here is for example a tutorial for WordPress where this is done:

Once you have your Joomla website on WebMatrix with MySQL, you can just normally install HikaShop on it and use it.
