compare to show 1 out of the max

-- PHP version -- : 5.4
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : any

Remember seeing this post but can't fine it.

1. Is it a way when you click on the compare button for a product it shows 1 of out 2 in the compare notification?

2. Is it possible to store the compare in memory so when you go from page to page it doesn't reset?

2. No, that feature is not provided by default. It requires some custom development to add it.

1. Example if I clicked on compare icon for a product and it could state "compare products 1 out of 2 selected" vs "compare products".

1. I don't remember seen a thread about that.
As far as I know, that would also require some modifications albeit a lot easier than what would be required to have the comparison system work on several pages.

2. It's something we want to do yes, but it's not a priority at the moment.

1. Is there a code snippet I can add? Or if not will this possibly available in the near future?

2. If shoppers can only compare products on the same page and not on different pages don't you agree it is not a complete compare system? Or is that asking to much for hikashop? Seems like the compare system works in a way on one page but in reality people don't just compare products that are on the same page. So this part of hikashop is limited.

Seems like a lot my request end up being that hikashop will have to be coded a different way to make certain features work. You guys have got some great advance features but are lacking some of the basics for an eCommerce store. Just giving my opinion as a buyer and user of your products so don't take offense to it.

Hi,

The compare page has been developed some years ago by myself ; it was a custom development that I made and I gave the code to the HikaShop team.
The original feature request didn't require some kind of "memory" for the comparison ; so yes, the feature could be better but it will also require some extra development.

HikaShop is also an open-source project, where external developers can share their work with the rest of the community.
The improvement of the compare system is in the HikaShop TODO list, like other various tasks.

But the good point is that the compare system is very flexible and allow you to compare product by just giving the product ids.
You can create a "compare page" and specify yourself the products, like we did in our demo website :
demo.hikashop.com/index.php/en/other-features/comparison-page

That's why Nicolas told you that the feature is possible ; but even if it's not something really complicated (like managing taxes) it requires some time to make it right (with an interface flexible enough to allow customization).
