-- url of the page with the problem -- : 101.0.115.100/~askueand/

-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.6
-- PHP version -- : 5

Hi guys, I'm having issues with order first of all it comes up with gibberish (same as this thread here) TOPIC: After Update to 2.3.3, Cannot Change Order Status. When I click on status to change from created to shipped (say if they have paid and we have seen it in our account). I get gibberish :(

Does this mean I have to update Hikashop? I tried searching for an answer but it appears it didn't get solved for this guy.

Also when someone places an order. But also we aren't getting order creating emails. I've set up my email address (and checked the spam folders regularly just in case) but they don't seem to be sending through at all.

Any help would be great. Thanks guys!

Hi Xavier. Thanks for the reply. I Have made quite a few customisations. Does this mean I will lose them when I upgrade? I'm taking a backup just in case but it seems odd that the frontend_custom css sheet isn't stored in a html over ride folder but stored in media (which I'm guessing will be overwritten).

Hi,

When you update Joomla you also need to update HikaShop.
This issue is typical of a website where Joomla was updated and not HikaShop.

If you made your customizations via the CSS edition interface of the Display>Views menu, you won't loose your changes.
It's normal that the frontend_custom CSS file is not stored in the HTML override folder as this folder of for HTML files, not CSS files. And no, the folder media is not overwritten when you update HikaShop. Otherwise, you would loose all the files that you uploaded in your products and which are stored in the folder media/com_hikashop/upload/safe

Hi Nicolas, I updated as per Xaviers instructions and lost the language changes (but I knew that would happen) so all good. But I also have the problem that it is still not emailing (even with everything updated) the email address that is entered when an order is created.

Thanks once again Nicolas, sorry for being a pain again :(

Hi,

Are other emails being sent ?
If yes, then the issue is with the Emails settings of the Hikashop configuration which are not correct for your hosting plan or you emptied the "order creation notification email address" setting there.
So please check these.
If no, then the issue is with the Emails settings of the Joomla configuration and you should check with your hosting company what are the recommendations for these.

Hi Nicholas,

Yes, other emails are being sent from core Joomla e.g. registration emails and emails to the new people registering.

These are the fields I have filled in for the order under 'configuration->emails' Is there perhaps something I'm missing or another section I am supposed to be filling in.

Thanks! (again) :)

Hi Nicholas I am trying through a process of elimination trying to work out what it is and when I change an order from e.g. ordered to confirmed, it says 'notify the customer' and I select yes, and this also doesn't email the customer. It appears to be isolated to hikashop emails.

Hi,

HikaShop emails have HTML in them while normal Joomla emails don't. HTML allows for a nice layout for the emails.

If you have the Business edition, you can edit the emails via the menu System>Emails and turn off the "HTML" setting of the emails to see if that's the problem.
If so, then I would recommend to contact your hosting company to see why they refuse HTML emails and not non HTML emails.

Otherwise, it's something else with the Emails settings of the HikaShop configuration. It could be that you turned on the "embed images" setting, or you might need to change the charset or the encoding based on what your hosting company prefers.
Or maybe it comes from the "from name" which should be left empty, or the bounce email address which should be from the same domain name as the "from email", etc.
There are a lot of potential causes which depends on what email server your hosting company is using and how they configured it.
That's why I keep recommending to ask them. Otherwise, we're just shooting in the dark.

Hi guys just to let you all know. I spoke to the hosting company and the didn't seem to see what the issue was the could see outbound emails coming into the system but I simply clicked embed images on and off then on again and it worked?! Maybe it was just a glitch but its working fine now :)
