Show different category 'Number of Columns' on sub

Hi, I have my home page and have set up the Number of Columns to show as 2. When I go into the 1st category I have 5 sub-categories and all the products showing. I would like to make it so all subcategories are in columns of 3 (not 2). is this possible?

I have had to make it so the subcategories are brand names, it would be better if all brands variations of each category were displayed but I can't seem to work that out. For example the first category is 'Blades" then when this is clicked on the customer is shown all brands of blades, when they click on the brand, it shows all blades in that brand.

These 2 category listing are part of the same category listing content menu which have the id number 101, so there will be only 1 option to control the number of column which will show through your 2 category listing, the only solution can be to directly use 2 different category listing content menu.
