I am looking for good suggestions on how I will not confuse our customers. I have a couple screenshots I am attaching that shows the Totals displayed that I am sort of understanding but my customers won't understand. There must be some settings I need to select to make things easier for them. This is particularly for customers living in the same state that have to pay sales tax.

1) In the top left corner the amount of $21.60 is displayed. This is the cost of the product plus the sales tax on the product.
2) In the right column the correct Price shows for the product (before tax) but no amount for tax is showing.
3) In the right column amount that shows for Shipping is the shipping costs plus the added tax to the shipping. The shipping is $3.00 and the tax at 8.25% is an additional .25 cents.
4) In the right column the Total that is showing is the amount of the Product price plus the amount of the shipping without the tax on the Shipping.

I am afraid these numbers are going to confuse my customers.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page then the dollar amounts and the shipping are all displayed in a clear and logical way. I will attach that image as well.

What I am wondering is if you have any suggestions about how to maybe clarify to people what the other numbers are doing? I would like to have everything match or make sense to the customers.

Hi,

All depends on the configuration of the different modules.
I don't know why you got "21.60" in your mini cart but for the rest the number looks good.

During the checkout, the different number are required ; your customer should have access to these information in order to know what he will pay exactly (shipping, taxes, etc).

Otherwise, HikaShop have plenty settings to let you configure what prices you want to display in the different modules or how you want to display the prices by default.

Thanks Jerome,

I did have to spend some time to figure out what was going on. I believe when you say Mini-cart you mean the cart in the top left corner of the site. That number of $21.60 was calculated as follows DVD Cost + Sales Tax on DVD (did not include any shipping or sales tax on shipping). So, the Mini cart is NOT including anything to do with the shipping costs. Probably because the mini-cart is calculating the costs before we even know what the shipping will be.

I am very happy with the numbers that are calculated during checkout because they are very clear and concise and correct. I would like to figure out how to get everything else to match that. Basically having the numbers in three places is great as long as they are in agreement. :-)

I have configured the Cart and the Shopping Cart modules and am happy with them now being in agreement. Neither of them show the tax as a total. I can make the mini-cart show the total with tax and it matches the final total so that is great.

What I have not been able to figure out is how to make the shopping cart in the right sidebar match the total that are in the final totals. Is the final totals also calculated with a configurable module? If so I just need to find that module and make the settings match?

I AM able to get the totals to all match now but in a way that will be confusing to the customers. The reason is that people expect the taxes to be calculated as a separate line as it is done in the bottom of the checkout page as follows:

(BTW, This is beautiful!)
Total Price $19.95
Subtotal $19.95
Shipping $3.00
Texas State Sales Tax $1.89
Total $24.84

I would like the shopping cart module in the right sidebar to do the same. Instead I have only been able to get it to look as follows:

(BTW, This is a bit confusing!)
Price $21.60
Shipping: $3.25
Total: $24.84

Hi,

Here the documentation for the cart module
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/i...267-cart-module.html

With the setting "show shipping in the cart" you will display the shipping price in the "footer" of the cart but I can see that it is already the case.

Regarding the taxes line on the cart module, it is not displayed in the cart module and there is no setting to display that.
You would have to edit the file "cart" of the view "product" via the menu Display>Views and add custom code in order to add the taxes display in the cart module.

Thank you very much. I am just going to have to remove the Shopping Cart from my site now because the calculation of the taxation being added to the sub total and the shipping instead of as one line item afterwards is too confusing.

I wish there was an option to "Display Shipping and Taxes in Cart like the component Check out".

Or, another way to say it might be "Display Taxes as a separate line item".

So, again we be able to show a line for each of the following exactly as it already appears in the checkout process:

Subtotal $19.95
Shipping $3.00
Texas Sales Tax $1.89
Total $24.84

The big difference is that no taxes show on the subtotal or the shipping amount. Then the taxes are added on the total.

Hi,

We can't add too many options (HikaShop already have a lot) so we are just using generic settings for the display of the taxes.
But thanks to view override, you can change how some prices will be displayed ; you can force to display the shipping and the taxes for example.

Like explained in my previous message, the view "product / cart" is used to display the cart module. So if you override that view you can tweak the display and display the information you want.
