Hello, I need to upgrade a Joomla 2.5.28 site to 3.4.8 and I am looking for advice.

The site has collected a lot of garbage throughout the years so I've elected to create a blank 3.4.8 site and methodically import the content that is still relevant.

I also need to xfer the contents of the HS database to the new site. Currently we are running HS 2.6.1 on Joomla 2.5.28.

Before I start, I was wondering if anyone has done this and if there are any caveats?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

Many people have done it before so it shouldn't be a problem.
First thing is to transfer your Joomla users from the old website to the new website.
Then, export the hikashop_ tables from your old database via your phpmyadmin and import them back to your new database after renaming the prefix of the tables if necessary.
Then, copy the media/com_hikashop and images/com_hikashop folders from the old to the new website via FTP.
Finally, install HikaShop on the new website and you should get all your HikaShop content back. You'll just have to recreate your menus and modules via the menu/module manager of Joomla unless you have something to port your menus and modules over.
