-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.1

Hi,

We're looking at migrating from Joomla 2.x to 3.x and I'd like to set up a development instance on our internal server.

We're intending to ONLY use Joomla/HikaShop for the shop going forward and I'd like to take a snapshot of the production site shop so that we have real data to work against.

Is there a way to migrate HikaShop (plus users and any other required data) from one database to another or do we need to copy EVERYTHING, and is that even possible between joomla 2.x & 3.x?

Thanks,
Oliver

You can create backup of your website and transfer it to localhost/development server using Akeeba Backup:

Hi,

It's not a problem. HikaShop is the same for Joomla 2.x and 3.x.
First, migrate your Joomla users from your Joomla 2.x to your Joomla 3.x.
Once done, copy the hikashop tables from your old website database to your new website database, copy the files/folders under media/com_hikashop/ and images/com_hikashop/ via FTP, and finally install the HikaShop install package on your new website and you'll get back all your data in HikaShop in your new website. All that's left is creating the menu items and modules you want to display your products etc.
