Characteristic Selection Method

So I have the issue where in the Hikashop configuration you can select one of the 4 characteristic Selection Methods as a default, I'm assuming this as within each characteristic it has the option inherit. I didnt see this explained in the documentation or on another forum post so apologies if this is previously answered.

Is this the system, a bug, or a settings problem on my end that if I have:
- HikaShop config set to: dropdown
- Characteristics allow their own selection method to be some of the same options (inherit, dropdown, radio)
[as seen in attachments Method 1]
- HikaShop config set to: any other option
- Characteristics dont allow their own selection method
[as seen in attachments method 2]

it was just confusing that depending on the overall hikashop method you can set the method per characteristic on an individual basis to another option, but with other overall hikashop methods you then can't change the method for characteristics on an individual basis.
