Invalid extension update

Without selecting an extra fob (this is a product of its own) click Add (to cart). You will automatically be taken to checkout:

At that point these the keyless base unit plus NO extra fob (which shows as 1 item even though none selected). How do I stop this displaying at all if they select not wanting an extra fob/s?

Logically, to me, adjusting the quantity of 1 to, say, 2 should result in the price being changed to $35 (each extra fob is $35 set up in variants of the fob product), but it keeps the price at $0 - 2 x $0 = $0.

Hmmm, so 0,5% of customers click the "Want an extra fob" link and get taken to the fob page. Here' the can select extra fobs. That's all good except the price has "each" after it, even if you select 2 or 3 extra giving the impression that each fob is, in the case of selecting 3, $105 EACH. Assuming they miss that, they click Add and go back to checkout. The free fob is still there at $0 and the extras are added. I want to be able to remove the free fob line if they add extra.
