Filter by Brand: how to display only relevant brands to the category?

How do I only show relevant brands to the product list page? e.g. when displaying laptop computers, I do *NOT* want to see brands displayed in the brand selector that are not relevant to the laptop product category, such as "cosmetics brands", "computer accessories brands" andsoon.

Hi,

Edit the brand filter via the Display>Filters menu and activate the "dynamic display" setting and it will only display the elements available for the products of the current listing.
