Question & Replying to Checkout as guest while having an account

I was attempting to reply to the forum thread entitled "Checkout as guest while having an account"

However as a new user in the forum, it won't allow me to reply without first submitting my own new topic.

I would like to know if there was any further resolution on the issue of guest checkout of a user that is also a registered user.
I agree with both respondents of the thread referenced above. On my site I would like everyone (including registered users) to have the frictionless option to check out as a guest. Less friction on check out is proven to increase sales, particularly of digital download items. But I also need to be able to offer registered user services as well. Registered users in my case is handled by Community Builder. It seems to me that the hard coding of this isn’t needed or at least should be made optional. Has this issue changed since the posts referenced above were made?
