Hi,

You'll have to create a content menu through "Hikashop->Display->Content menus" with the "Type of content" set option to category, and to use this Hikashop content menu through the Joomla menu manager.

Hope this will help you a little.

I'm having trouble understanding this. I am using a dropdown menu as my main Joomla menu, which displays sub-menu items once the parent item is hovered over.

I want the parent item to be "Categories" and then have sub-menu items created dynamically for each category that I have in my Hikashop, so that once the parent item ("Category") is hovered over, the dropdown menu will display all the sub-menu items which are the actual category names.

Is this what your solution is supposed to do? tiekubd did it work for you?

You have two solutions for that.
Either you create one menu item per category and in the "associated category" option of your category listing menu item, you select the corresponding category.
Or you use maximenu CK's integration with HikaShop which do that automatically:

I looked at the Maximenu. Is there something similar that will also list products as menu items?

I don't know about that. You should ask Maximenu. That's something that they should be able to add to their integration with HikaShop if they don't already have it.

Hi,

To which issue are you referring to exactly ?
In most cases, if you want to have sub menu items of your main website menu corresponding to your categories, you'll want to create sub menu items corresponding to the categories manually. If you really have a lot of them and you don't mind cluttering your main menu, then you can still use Maximenu CK and its integration with HikaShop.
For products, you can also create sub menu items corresponding to them.

Note that we're talking here about having sub menu items to a main menu made of menu items configured via the Joomla menu manager and displayed via a menu module instance via the Joomla modules manager.
If you want to have a listing of categories on the side of the pages, or a listing of products on the side of the pages, this was and still is possible with an instance of the HikaShop content module via the Joomla modules manager.
