Integration with Joomla 3.1 tags feature

I think that HikaShop could benefit by using the built in Joomla 3.1 tags feature. It would be great to be able to click a product, then click on a tag and see all articles in Joomla and all HikaShop products with those tags.

Until then, is there a way to display the keywords field in the product information page so each keyword is a hyperlink to other products containing that exact keyword?

Hi,

This feature is already in our TODO list. The tag feature of Joomla 3 is very interesting and we planned to implement something as soon as possible.
It could be one of our main development during this summer.

Until then, there is no such feature in HikaShop. It is something which has to be develop (and it is a quite important development).

Kind regards,
Cornel

Hi,

We are working on :
- Multi Shipping & Multi Payment (with some new plugins interfaces)
- Mass action system

These two points are the two main features for the next big release.
The tag feature is in our TODO list for this summer, but we have to analyze this feature in Joomla and see own it could be integrated in HikaShop.

Just last week, Joomla released a new version of Joomla 3.1 which broke the components that were compatible with the tag feature. So it's sounds still a bit early, especially knowing that there is a lot of work to add it to HikaShop, but it's still high on our TODO list.
I can't give a planned release date as we didn't plan it yet.
For next release in september, we'll add an install wizard to HikaShop and maybe a new product edition page.

Thanks for the link.
We actually already know it but we can't use that method as this requires the component to fully use the joomla 3 API which is no possible if you support Joomla 1.5 and 2.5. Thus, it will require something way more complex.

I think now it makes sense to end support for Joomla 1.5 in Hikashop because officially dropped support for Joomla 1.5

Hi,

Yes but no.
We still have a lot of users on Joomla 1.5 so we will continue to support it.

So has any progress been made on this or has Hikashop reached its end of life along with Joomla 1.5?

Hi.
Any word on this?

I have a site where there are a couple of hundred products all connected by fragrance. Tags is a stupendously easy way for us to help people narrow their choice. Particularly if used in combination.
Eg. mens, sandalwood. Bam there's your cream, colognes and soaps and perfumes.

The number of items for tagging looks to be too many for categories. (This is not an exhaustive list.)
amber, botanical, cardamom, cedarwood, chypre, cinnamon, clove, cypress, floral, fougere, gardenia, gift voucher, hamper, honey, iris, jasmine, lavender, lemon, lotion, lotus, maychang, men, narcissus, neroli, orange blossom, oriental, osmanthus, parfum, patchouli, pepper, perfume, powder, rich, rose, sandalwood, spice, spring, sweet grass, tea, tobacco, tuberose, unisex, vanilla, women, wood, ylang ylang

Any other thoughts would be most appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi,

The tags support has been added almost one year ago in HikaShop.
You can see the tags field on the product edition page when you edit/create a product if you have a recent version of HikaShop.

Thank you. Yes I have added tags to items in Hikashop and was looking for how to then harness that power, maybe from within the controls of Hikashop.

I have been hunting and this extension appears to offer the features I am keen on. vm2.galt.md
It does require a separate level of tagging but so be it.
I'm considering using tags for product feature definitions and Cherry Picker Filter as the product sorting method for display.

Thanks

Rob
