Product waitlist notification not sending mails

-- Joomla version -- : 3.6.2
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.24
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Chrome
-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : Product waitlist notification is not sending notification emails.

The product waitlist notification plugin is enabled. It appears to be triggering since the last update is current (see hikashop_waitlist_notify_enabled.jpg).

There are waitlist entries for the Occupational Therapist Charm bracelet between July 30 to August 2 (see waitlist_redacted.jpg)

The product "Occupational Therapist Charm Bracelet" (ID=2389) has 8 pieces available (see product_list.jpg).

The cron job is running. (see cron_1.jpg)

However, no notification emails are being sent out. Looking at the log (see cron_logfile.txct), waitlist notify last ran successfully on August 1, 2016 and has not run since although there are waitlist entries and there are available stocks for some waitlist entries.

It appears that waitlist notify is being triggered but is quietly failing. How can I resolve or debug further?

What are your settings for the "waitlist" in the HikaShop configuration ? (tab "features").

Hi,

It looks fine as far as I can see.
Did you customize the waitlist email via the menu System>Emails. Because that could explain the problem if there was a coding error that mail.
Do you see the waitlist emails in the menu Customers>Email history ?

Hi Nicolas,

There are no email customizations (see system_email_customization.jpg).

Last notify email as seen from email history was sent on August 2 at 9:30pm (see waitlist_notify_notification_list.jpg).

I wish I can debug further but the plugins are pretty much of a black box to me.

Ok, I figured it out.

Waitlist notify was failing due to bad data!

Users were able to enter invalid email addresses at the Notify Me When Available screen.

This is a bug in the Notify When Available screen. Kindly fix in the next release.

Hi,

Ah yes. I can see why it would be a problem as since Joomla 3.5, Joomla email processing library crashes the process of the page if it tries sending an email with an invalid email address.
We'll add a check to the waitlist email form screen to avoid that.
