unwanted multiple e-mails of one order

-- Joomla version -- : 3.8.2
-- PHP version -- : 7.1
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Firefox

I have a strange problem with the order confirmation e-mails.
When the order is paid the Mollie (Dutch ideal payment provider)sometimes sends out double and sometimes up to 8 confirmations of the payment.
This results in sending out up to 8 confirmation e-mails to the shop owner as well to the customer.
This is at random, sometimes all is working correct with just one confirmation.
Is there a setting that i have overlooked?
Is the ideal plugin the problem?
Is there something wrong in the setting of the hosting?
I don't think the payment provider is the problem because i'm running mollie and Hikashop on another website without any problem.

Hi,

This is usually totally controlled by the payment plugin so hard to say why it happens.
I can only provide some similar information:
Sometimes we had the same issue with PayPal sending several times the payment notifications, so we added a security in the PayPal payment plugin to not do anything when a notification of successful payment was coming and that the order was already confirmed.
Since then, it seems to have done the job properly.
So I would first recommend to check with the developer of your payment plugin.

Just a thought, I have set the checkout progress to "Checkout progress without end"
Is it possible when i set the checkout progress to "Checkout progress with end" the problem with the duplicate mails will be solved?
Or has that setting nothing to do with that?

That has nothing to do with that.
It just change the display of the progress bar.

Hello nicolas,
I have an item in "order statuses" called pending published could that be the problem why the payment plugin keeps asking for the payment status?
In another Hikashop i've build I don't have a status called pending.

Hi,

That's one of the default order statuses.
It's not used by default though.
It was added long ago on our end, but if you updated from a version from before that, you wouldn't get that status.
But in any case, that also doesn't have any link with the emails being duplicated.

As I said previously, all I can think is that some modification in the plugin would be necessary to prevent that glitch from happening.
